About Us

IT Infrastructure & Data Center Section is a part of ICT Association of Slovenia, which is one of the industry associations, part of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia.

Mission Statement

The mission of the section is to promote and support the development of IT Infrastructure and data centers in Slovenia, positioning them as a fundamental pillar of the digital transformation across the economy, public sector and wider society.

Key objectives

- Bringing together operators, vendors and system Integrators in IT infrastructure and data center sector, connecting them with end users,
- Through a range of activities, including engagement with the Slovene government, the aim is to secure global recognition for Slovenia as a high-tech environment capable of successfully hosting data centres for leading international corporations and major scientific research projects,
- Establish a dialogue with Slovenian government to help shape policies and legislation that deliver positive outcomes for members of the section, support the further development of sustainable IT infrastructure and data centres, and create incentives for the use of renewable energy sources,
- create a knowledge centre to provide members of the section with access to professional expertise, and establish specialised training for designers in cooperation with the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers.

International cooperation

IT Infrastructure & Data Center Section is a member of the European Data Centre Association (EUDCA).

Plans for 2026

Across Europe, private investors are making substantial investments in the construction of data centres and AI infrastructure. Members of the section will continue the dialog with Slovenian government to encourage interest and strategic support, with the aim to bring some of these investments to Slovenia. 

Slovenia’s location at the crossroads of Central Europe, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean makes it an excellent digital and network hub. This geographic position allows Slovenia to serve multiple markets including Austria, Northern Italy, Croatia, Serbia and other Western Balkan countries. With 10 ms latency Slovenia's network connection provides access possibilities to other key business regions in Europe – as represented by this map.

To achieve this, it is essential to secure suitable land, ensure sufficient energy supply, and provide appropriate incentives to attract investors. This field also presents opportunities for public–private partnerships, particularly in the use of waste heat from large data centres for district heating systems in cities.

Key activities:

• Planning further actions to enforce the Strategy for positioning Slovenia as a regional digital hub, a document SITIP members are co-authoring .
• Promotion of the document "National Cloud Development Strategy" among state institutions.
• Participation in international annual events (Kickstart Amsterdam, February 3-4, 2026; DCD Connect London, September 16-17, 2026).
• Co-organization of the DATA CENTER INDUSTRY event on April 23, 2026, in Ljubljana. More info here.
